Max McNown gets refreshingly honest about a mistake he says still stings.

Max McNown gets refreshingly honest about a mistake he says still stings. After realizing his reaction videos were more about human connection than the covers themselves, he started slipping his own original songs into the format. The first, "Freezing in November," hit a million streams in three months and put him on the map. Then his second song, "You in the Pines," blew up before it was even recorded, a reaction video racked up 16 million views in a single week, with everyone asking where they could hear it. The problem? It took him three months to release the song, and by then he'd missed the window completely. It's a rare thing for an artist to admit.
